A man was killed and another injured after a pickup truck crashed into a bus stop bench in Surrey, B.C., late Saturday afternoon, police reported.
According to Surrey RCMP, the collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. PT near the intersection of 144 Street and Hyland Road. A Ford F350 pickup truck, traveling northbound on 144 Street, swerved into the oncoming lane before colliding with a bus stop bench, damaging nearby property in the process.
Police confirmed that a 33-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man in his 30s sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on-site, and authorities have not ruled out drugs or excessive speed as contributing factors in the fatal crash.
